When you’re a defense attorney in Washington, DC, you see firsthand how hard life can be, and that sometimes the only way to survive is to be harder. I, Jake Becker, have a reputation for being cold, callous, and intimidating—and that suits me just fine. In fact, it’s necessary when I’m breaking down a witness on the stand.
Complications don’t work for me—I’m a “need-to-know” type of man. If you’re my client, tell me the basic facts. If you’re my date, stick to what will turn you on. I’m not a therapist or Prince Charming—and I don’t pretend to be.
Then Chelsea McQuaid and her six orphaned nieces and nephews came along and complicated the ever-loving hell out of my life. Now I’m going to Mommy & Me classes, One Direction concerts, the emergency room, and arguing cases in the principal’s office.
Chelsea’s too sweet, too innocent, and too gorgeous for her own good. She tries to be tough, but she’s not. She needs someone to help her, defend her…and the kids.
And that — that, I know how to do.\
it’s been days since I finished reading this book. It’s a second book from the Legal Brief Series, but you can read it as stand alone. the reason why I read this is that I’ve heard and read so many great things about it. I looked for a second-hand book shop if there’s a book of this avail, unfortunately, none so I looked for an ebook copy and unfortunately it has no copy so I posted a story on my IG if someone has an ebook copy of it. luckily, one of my followers has it and the reading journey has begun!
I’m never a fan of ebook until I’ve read this (but I still want to own a physical copy of this book) I always ended up in a slump whenever I read e-books. I immediately read it and finished it in 24 hours. I love everything about this book; it’s funny and witty! I love the banters between Jake and the kids and of course with Chelsea too. it’s kinda sad because the kid’s parents left them at such a young age, nevertheless, Chelsea handles them with so much care plus with the help of Jake. I kept thinking this book to be adopted as a romantic comedy and I will definitely watch it! I want to see Jake and the kids banters LIVE! I love how smart Jake is with his trials and how he managed to handle six kids in the house hence with his very orderly and neat life.
if you’re a fan of a funny, witty and comedy romance this book is for you. I’m currently reading the novella of this book and I can’t stop laughing because it’s really funny. this is my first Emma Chase book and definitely will not be the last.
